About Us
Respect, Responsibility, Positivity, Innovation
In the beginning
Formed in January 2014 by two paddling families – the Paines and the Davis’s. Headed by enthusiasts Leigh Paine and Tony Davis, it has grown to be one of the strongest and fastest growing clubs in Queensland. Our main membership drivers have been the development of successful junior and novice paddler programs. We believe in being part of the Gold Coast community and welcome paddlers at all levels – there is a place for everyone from social paddlers and beginners to elite competitors.
Additionally we are the sister club of the Cradle Coast Outrigger Canoe Club which was formed in Burnie, Tasmania by Leigh & Linda Paine in 2006.
A community and sporting club
We are a community club and strive to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in healthy, safe and inclusive outrigging activities in a fun, family orientated environment. We offer the largest junior outrigging program on the Gold Coast and promote our sport to all schools in our region. We have a successful para-athlete contingent and everyone from world champion elite paddlers to Sunday morning novices.
Our vision is to provide anyone and everyone with the opportunity to enjoy the great sport of outrigging, no matter their age, gender, fitness level or competitive goals (if any). Central to this vision is our commitment to ‘giving back’ and this drives our champion paddlers to ‘mentor’ those new to the sport to ‘be the best’ they can be in meeting their outrigging goals. This also means embracing our paddlers’ entire family on and off the water and our club events and family/corporate days see a great culture of inclusion and involvement.
We actively contribute to the development of our sport by hosting innovative events and regattas aligned with our national sporting body AOCRA, for the Pan Pac Games, and for Gold Coast corporations and other groups.
Junior development is a key element of our club and we reach out and welcome juniors into the club, as our future and the future of the sport.
